Matriculation System
SPECISS Thematic Montessori is a unique, oldest and the finest Montessori school in Pakistan with dedicated Montessori directresses and fully equipped early learning approach for children. A child admitted into the Montessori section is nurtured as competent and influential individual. Each child is made to feel 'Wanted', 'Loved' in the environment irrespective of his/her ability level. The programme is based on the need of a child in a manner so as to nurture and enhance the child's achievements, interests and learning styles. The children are exposed to Practical life exercises which give them the opportunity to master the environment and self care e.g. pouring liquids. Sensorial materials such as Cube tower, color tablets and sound cylinders are designed to support the balanced development of all senses. Math material introduces children to one-to-one correspondence, numeration, sequencing of numbers, numeral place value and beginning arithmetic operations. In the language portion of Montessori curriculum children prepare for reading with a multi sensory approach including phonics and language experiences. They are also taught Geography with large wooden puzzle maps. Science and nature stimulates child's discovery projects, experiments and exploration of outdoor environment. Creative arts and crafts allow for self expression and fine motor development. Music highlights listening skills, ear training, rhythmic movement, singing and the creation of music. The practitioners implement clear, principled approach and use effective assessments from the child's first days in a setting to the end of the Early Years/ SIMP. About the Qualification: SIMP (Speciss International Montessori Programme) The Speciss International Montessori Programme is a framework used by Speciss Thematic Montessori (STM) to ensure pedagogy and the curriculum is consistent with the student progression thus sponsoring teaching and learning on international standards, delivered locally and accepted globally. It sets out to celebrate the uniqueness, strengths, interests and personalities of every child. Support to positive relationship development is ensured. Identification of appropriate steps for child's learning; development along with achievements of milestones in learning and enabling environment is part of the SIMP Philosophy. The SIPP has been bench marked against international curricula. Subject wise curriculums are developed in house and are vertically and horizontally aligned. About the Curriculum: Speciss International Primary Curriculum: Appropriate and relevant internationally, Speciss Primary has been designed to be culturally sensitive. SSS is known for its in house sheet system for years. Our worksheet system is meant to give maximum learning in minimum time. It includes top-quality teaching and assessment resources appropriate for teaching and learning. Child is given maximum exposure locally and internationally as the topics in each subject are globally recognized. Teaching strategies and resources support and ensure an engaged learning environment which enhances child's knowledge, skills attitude and values. Suggested scheme of work helps to plan teaching. The schemes of work cover all the learning objectives in the primary curriculum framework, providing a suggested teaching order as well as sample activities. Each stage is split into a number of units, which can be used as a starting point for producing lesson plans. Activities are suggested to suit local circumstances and resources. About Assessment, Learning and Progression System: Speciss Primary forms part of International Education for 5-11 years, offering routes candidates can follow from post-kindergarten (Montessori) stage through to university entrance. A continued assessment system is followed from grade 1 to 3. Grade 4 introduces monthly assessment to warm up and prepare the child for the tougher years ahead. Grade 5, introduces proper centralized examination system. Speciss provision also includes first-class support for teachers through publications, online resources, training, workshops and professional development followed by teaching standards monitoring. LOWER SECONDARY The Secondary Level is the middle or elementary school level offering continuous education through grade 6 , 7 and grade 8. Secondary level is the most comprehensive and unique elementary school qualification; thus preparing Speciss students for their international/national examinations offered through the University of London Ed-excel or the University of Cambridge International examinations UK and/ or FBISE/BISE Matric examination. Speciss Lower Secondary Programme SLSP has been created to support teaching and learning in years prior to IGCSE, O levels and Matriculation. SLSP is the Lower Secondary Programme which is based on curriculum of English, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Islamiyat & Urdu that are stimulating for both students and teachers. Urdu, Islamiyat and Social Studies are taught with our national perspective using international teaching strategies. The knowledge and skills that will be developed can ensure a smooth transition from secondary to higher national/ international qualifications. The age level is 11-13 years for this qualification. About the Curriculum: Speciss Lower Secondary Curriculum Speciss Lower Secondary Curriculum offers a curriculum framework for educational success for learners, typically 11-15 years old. The SLSP curriculum has following main characteristics:
A systematic and regular method of evaluation of the student's progress in all fields of the educational activities has been adopted and a consolidated record of the student is maintained. The medium of instruction is English with due emphasis on Maths, Science, Urdu, History, Geography and Islamiat. Monthly assessments and terminal examinations are based on two terms being taken at this level. Secondary levels offers a gateway to the Speciss 'O' level, IGCSE level or the local matriculation examinations; with focus on strong academic foundation at such important years through developing an aptitude towards inquiry and concept base learning at each school level. MATRICULATION The 2 years matriculation program sturucture for the age 15-16 years. the children which have came in Matriculation recognized through Matric Board of Secondary Education Karachi, Sindh. the student get very high percentage (95%) as a top position holder in Karachi. |

About the Qualification Cambridge IGCSE The Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is one of the most recognized qualifications around the world. Cambridge IGCSE caters for different levels of ability with a choice between core and extended papers in many subjects. The core curriculum is based on an overview of the subject and is suitable for students expected to achieve grades C to G. The extended curriculum is more challenging and designed for students who are expected to achieve grades A* to C. Grades achieved through either route has the same value. Where is IGCSE accepted and recognized? IGCSE is a high-profile qualification. It has exactly the same value in admitting students to institutes of further education and employment as the UK equivalent – GCSE. IGCSE is comparable with GCE O Level and the UK GCSE. IGCSE has an excellent reputation amongst international schools worldwide. IGCSEs are recognized as a reliable record of attainment which counts towards entry to universities and colleges around the world. A good grade (i.e. C or above) in IGCSE English as a Second Language is accepted for entry by almost all universities in the UK and many in the USA, Canada and Australia as evidence of adequate competence in the English language. How is Cambridge IGCSE Taught? At Speciss, students are encouraged to study a wide range of subjects at IGCSE level, at the same time. In order to follow a broad and balanced curriculum, many students take courses from each of the IGCSE groups (see subjects offered list), particularly if they're aiming to go on to further education. This can lead to the award of the International Certificate of Education; an additional qualification that recognizes students who pass exams in seven or more subjects, including two languages and one subject from each of the other groups. The course differs for each subject, but throughout there will be a mix of assessment methods, including coursework, practical exercises, oral and listening tests, projects and written examinations. IGCSE Examination and Assessment Information IGCSE courses usually take three or four years to complete and exams are taken at the end of that period. Examinations are held in June and November each year with results issued in August and February respectively. How is Cambridge O Levels Taught? Many schools allocate a total of about 170 hours for each O level subject, but how much time a school devotes to each subject will depend on a variety of factors. The syllabus is set by Cambridge, but how it is taught will depend on the school or college. Students must enter for O level through registered CIE Centers at SHSS. At school, more able students may study six or seven subjects at O level, but less able students may have a much more modest programme in order to follow a broad and balanced curriculum. However, it is also possible to study individual O level subjects if this better suits the student's needs. O-Level Examination and Assessment Information O level courses take two years to complete and exams are taken at the end of that period.
